- Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire
- Inspect incoming scrap metal loads from commercial and public customers
- Identify, sort, and grade ferrous and non-ferrous metals including copper, aluminum, brass, stainless steel, and iron
- Detect and remove debris, non-metallic materials, and hazardous contaminants
- Verify metal composition using magnets, handheld testing equipment, and basic tools
- Assist with weighing loads and documenting material details for pricing and inventory
- Follow yard safety procedures, wear required PPE, and report unsafe materials or conditions
Qualifications for Material Inspector:
- Previous experience in a scrap yard, recycling, manufacturing, or construction setting preferred but not required
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs regularly
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout an 8-hour shift
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and loud industrial environments
- Basic knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals preferred
- Strong attention to detail when identifying materials and spotting prohibited or hazardous items
- Ability to stoop, bend, squat, kneel, twist and reach
