Job Description
Do you have machine operator experience and looking for a fresh start? Utility Staffing Group is currently hiring  Machine Operator & Cleaner positions in Knoxville, TN.   
Details for Machine Operator & Cleaner position:
· $18 / Hour
· Monday – Friday | 6am – 4pm
Job duties for Machine Operator & Cleaner:
· Operate and clean heavy machinery such as balers, shredders, loaders, and forklifts in a metal recycling yard
· Perform continuous cleaning of equipment and surrounding areas during operation, removing debris, dust, grease, and contaminants safely
· Monitor gauges, meters, and controls to maintain optimal machine performance
· Complete pre-shift and post-shift safety inspections and report issues to maintenance
· Follow all health, safety, and environmental protocols and wear required PPE
· Maintain accurate logs of operations, cleaning, and maintenance activities
· Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure safe, coordinated workflows
· Perform general labor and housekeeping duties such as sweeping, shoveling, and debris removal
· Follow all policies and safety procedures in place
· Completes any other related tasks as needed
Qualifications and Desired Skills for Machine Operator & Cleaner:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Experience in heavy industrial, manufacturing, or recycling environments preferred; heavy equipment operation highly valued
· Basic knowledge of machine components with ability to perform minor maintenance and troubleshooting
· Strong safety commitment including lockout/tagout procedures and safe chemical handling per SDS
· Physically able to stand full shifts, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in weather-exposed, noisy, dusty industrial settings
· Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, teamwork, and situational awareness skills
