- Provide field-level safety leadership and daily onsite oversight for construction activities
- Conduct jobsite inspections, hazard assessments, and documented safety audits
- Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors, implement corrective actions, and stop work when serious hazards exist
- Review and support development of AHAs, JHAs, task hazard analyses, and site-specific safety documentation
- Verify employee understanding of project safety requirements, approved work plans, PPE, and safety equipment
- Lead or assist with pre-task planning, toolbox talks, safety briefings, orientations, and required safety training
- Monitor high-risk work including excavation, electrical and LOTO, crane and rigging, hot work, fall protection, scaffolds, confined spaces, heavy equipment, hazardous materials, and demolition
- Support implementation of fall protection, excavation, electrical, confined space, respiratory protection, hot work, and energy control programs
- Partner with project management, superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and craft employees to develop effective hazard controls
- Investigate incidents, near misses, property damage, and safety events to identify root causes and corrective actions
- Maintain safety records, inspection reports, training documentation, incident reports, and corrective-action tracking
- Monitor subcontractor compliance and participate in coordination meetings, safety stand-downs, client meetings, and project audits
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, USACE, company policies, and project-specific safety requirements
- Promote hazard reporting, safety observations, employee involvement, and continuous safety improvement
- Follow all policies and safety procedures in place
- Completes any other related tasks as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of construction safety experience preferred
- Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and general industry safety requirements
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification preferred
- First Aid, CPR, and AED certification preferred
- Ability to identify construction hazards and recommend effective corrective actions
- Experience conducting jobsite inspections, safety observations, and hazard assessments
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, AHAs, JHAs, and safety plans
- Strong verbal communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills
- Ability to clearly communicate safety expectations to craft employees, supervisors, subcontractors, and management
- Ability to work independently in an active field construction environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic safety reporting systems
- Ability to stand for the duration of shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stoop, bend, squat, kneel, twist and reach
